Kunjan Narechania is committed to scaling solutions that work for America’s young people. She is the CEO and a co-founder of Watershed Advisors, a consultancy that supports governments to build and implement solutions that match the size and scale of problems in American education. Watershed partners with governors, state education chiefs, philanthropies, and non-profits on issues that impact young people ranging from early childhood education to transitions from K-12 to college and/or the workforce.Prior to founding Watershed Advisors, Kunjan served as a senior leader at the Louisiana Department of Education and the Recovery School District. As CEO of the RSD in New Orleans, she led the design and implementation of the state’s education plan in post-Katrina New Orleans. During her time, a Stanford University study listed New Orleans among the top 10 cities nationwide for student growth from 2012-2017. She also served as the Assistant State Superintendent of School Improvement at the Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) where she designed and managed Louisiana’s statewide plan to grow student achievement in its 500 lowest-performing schools under the Every Student Succeeds Act. During her tenure, Louisiana ranked amongst the top 10 states for student growth in all four NAEP assessments. Kunjan was previously Vice President of Teacher Support and Development at Teach For America. She began her career as a sixth grade math teacher in Durham, North Carolina.
