As we enter into 2023, a "Brave New World" awaits us, and we can't use old maps to navigate a new world. At GSV, we compiled a list of the 150 most transformational private companies in digital learning and workforce skills that are shaping the future of education. These 150 companies are at the forefront of innovation and are constantly evolving to meet the needs of learners, educators and companies around the world. Despite a decrease in the venture capital flowing into the sector compared to pandemic highs in 2021, these companies continue to thrive by providing a real "Return on Education" for learners from Pre-K to Gray. This year's GSV 150 companies are committed to ensuring that ALL people have equal access to the future.
We are announcing the 2023 edition of
GSV 150 — a list that represents the most transformative private companies in education. With the continued scaling of the industry, an unprecedented number of companies were considered, making it the most competitive yet to narrow the list to only 150 names. We evaluated over 4,000 VC and PE-backed private companies across several factors —
revenue scale,
revenue growth,
user reach,
geographic diversification, and
margin profile, to arrive at the top 150 companies. As the world navigates through change and uncertainty, these platforms are providing solutions to help improve access to quality education and support to all people around the world. We estimate that the 150 companies reach ~3 billion people, or close to half of the global population, and generate approximately $25 billion in revenue.
