Chris Mackey (SkillsLine), Joy Hermsen (CA Community Colleges Workforce Econ. Development Division), Ed Hidalgo (Cajon Valley Union School District), David Albers (Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) in the Education Department), and Michael Meotti (Washington Student Achievement Council) explore Playing Offense Through Financial Empowerment at the 2021 ASU+GSV Summit. The student debt crisis is a well-known fact of 21st century American life. While it's unclear whether Congress will act to lessen the load for adults struggling with these loans, the department of Federal Student Aid has decided they have a role to play much earlier in this cycle going forward. Through the new Student Financial Empowerment initiative, FSA intends to empower younger students and their families with information to enable them to make fully informed decisions about postsecondary options. Join this session to hear directly from FSA and some early partners in this effort to create empowered consumers.
