Accelerated Economic Mobility: Innovations in High School to Career Pathways

NYC Public Schools Chief of Student Pathways Jade Grieve, Interplay Learning CEO Doug Donovan, IBM VP Global Education and Workforce Development Lydia Logan, and Owl Ventures Entrepreneur in Residence Senior Advisor Henry Hipps discuss innovations in high school to career pathways at the 2023 ASU+GSV Summit.

Building upon the long history of Career and Technical Education (CTE), we will explore the latest innovations in models and approaches that integrate career-connected coursework, training, and work-based learning experiences that enable high school students to graduate with a credential of labor-market value and launch careers that provide economic mobility. We will learn from past efforts in CTE and leading-edge solutions for redesigning the high school to postsecondary and career transition space, including modern youth apprenticeship programs, national scale enterprises, enabling technologies, and non-degree credentials. Our panel of experts will discuss how K-12, postsecondary, and employers can effectively collaborate to reshape the possibilities for how students are prepared for career pathways during high school.
