Tamara Sumner is the Director of the Institute of Cognitive Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, and a Professor in Computer and Cognitive Science. Our research examines human learning and cognition, machine intelligence, and fruitful collaborations between the two. Our interdisciplinary research and development teams combine expertise in cognitive science, learning sciences, machine learning and natural language processing, user-centered design and evaluation, learning analytics, and cognitive neuroscience. We host and operate the NSF National AI Institute for Student-AI Teaming. Here, I will talk about our recent work creating and studying machine learning models that automatically analyze classroom recordings to provide K-12 mathematics teachers with personalized feedback on their instructional practices.
