Camhi is the Superintendent of Schools for the Baldwin Union Free School District, where she has successfully encouraged innovation and creativity in K-12 education. She has also been elected the president of the School Superintendents Association (AASA). She possesses over 30 years of experience working in school districts in New York State and consulting in rural, suburban and urban schools across the country. She has not followed the conventional path in education, having worked in private industry as a manager of training and development in the field of technology, a visiting "expert" in educational technology overseas, adjunct professor, technology director, assistant superintendent, and currently, superintendent of schools. Since joining Baldwin School District, located in a middle-class community on Long Island, the graduation rate has climbed to 97%, ranking the high school for the first time among U.S. News & World Report’s annual list Best High Schools and achieving “New York State Recognition School” by the State Education Department for the past two years. Dr. Camhi has overseen the creation of seven profession-based academies in the Baldwin School District, where rigorous courses intersect with opportunities to work with industry partners through internships and shadow days and knowledge gets tested through local, regional and national competitions.
