Seán McCarthy

Seán is a professor in Writing Studies and a lead instructor and designer at JMU X-Labs, an innovation space at James Madison University. There, he has designed and taught problem-focused courses with partners such as the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, the departments of Defense and State, The Aspen Institute, Waterways Ireland, and a wide variety of non- and for-profit organizations. His current research focuses on transdisciplinary undergraduate learning, which he believes is going to be a vital part of the future of higher education in the post-pandemic world.
