
Dr. Pati Ruiz, Ed.D. is Director of Learning Technology Research in the Center for Learning Sciences Research at Digital Promise, where she leads initiatives that shape the future of education through technology innovation. With a focus on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, Dr. Ruiz works closely with school communities, researchers, and policymakers to enhance learning opportunities and ensure equitable access to educational technologies. Her expertise is grounded in both research and practical experience. Her research interests include responsible innovation, emerging learning technologies, digital literacy, and computer science education, and she brings 16 years of classroom experience teaching middle and high school Spanish and computer science while also serving as a school administrator. This extensive classroom experience ensures that her research remains grounded in the practical needs of educators and students, making her work immediately applicable. Recognized as a leader in responsible AI development, Dr. Ruiz was honored as a 2022 Brilliant Woman in AI Ethics, selected as a 2023 EdSAFE AI Fellow, and named a 2025 ASU+GSV Leading Woman in AI.
