Lila Ibrahim is Chief Operating Officer of Google DeepMind, overseeing how the organisation operates, builds responsibly, and engages with the external world. Lila has helped establish, scale and shape the values of multiple global technology organisations over the past three decades, through engineering and business leadership roles at Intel, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Coursera. Deeply passionate about access to education, Lila is also co-founder of Team4Tech, a non-profit bringing technology curricula and infrastructure to students in underserved communities. A respected voice of the industry, she sits on the UK’s AI Council, which advises the British government on artificial intelligence, and is a member of the non-partisan Council on Foreign Relations. She also serves on the Bloomberg New Economy Forum Advisory Committee and has been recognized as an Aspen Institute Crown Fellow (2011) as well as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader (2007). In 2021, she was named a Distinguished Engineering Alumnae by Purdue University, where she earned her electrical engineering degree in 1993.
