Jana has over 30 years of experience in Montessori early childhood education and 21 years in teacher and adult education in the US and internationally. She holds an AMS primary certification (2.5-6), a BA in English Literature, and an MEd with an emphasis in Montessori from St Catherine University. Jana holds additional certificates from Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE) Level One, AMI Prague 0-3 Assistant's certificate, Montessori and Dementia Care Practitioner, Montessori Applied to Children at Risk (MACAR), and Trauma Informed Teaching. Jana worked in public and private Montessori school settings serving children from six weeks through high school as a Primary and Elementary Teacher, Coach, Developmental Specialist for children with dyslexia, and Head of School. Jana is the co-founder and President of the Kentucky Montessori Alliance. Jana is interested in Montessori texts and frequently publishes and presents on Montessori philosophy and praxis. She reads selections from Montessori texts on her podcast "Montessori Bookclub Podcast." Jana believes that the experiences of birth to 6-year-old children should be safe, loving, and researched-based and that supporting the adults who make that magic happen is an honor.
