Eric is focused on making learning more equity-centered and future-literate. He developed this passion initially as a high school Civics teacher in the Mississippi Delta (2009-2011). From 2017-2019, Eric was the Head of Research & Development at the Chicago International Charter School network, where his work focused on supporting innovation at existing schools, and incubating new school models. Since 2019, Eric has worked as an independent strategic advisor to organizations like: Relay Lab School, Arizona State University, SchoolMint and Digital Promise. Eric is also the co-founder (2012) of Whetstone Education, which develops software to support personalized teacher professional development; SchoolMint acquired Whetstone in 2020. Eric also worked at the Aspen Institute (2014-2016) where he designed and launched a set of venture incubation and acceleration programs.
