Dr. Carlos A. Montes is the Rivera Community of Schools Administrator (CoSA) in Region South (LAUSD). Before becoming the CoSA, he served as Director for Targeted Investment Schools (LAUSD), and prior to director, he served as Principal at Jordan High School in Watts. Carlos was born in Lynwood and grew up in Tijuana and Compton. After earning a music degree from CSUDH, he became a teacher and baseball coach at Roosevelt High School. In 2011, Carlos became assistant principal at Jordan High School, before being named principal in 2012. In 2011-12, Jordan High School had the highest API increase (for high schools) in California. Carlos also guided Jordan High School through redevelopment, leading to the transformation of the 100-year-old campus. As the Rivera Community of Schools CoSA, Carlos continues to do what he has done his entire educational career, and that is support our at-promise students in Los Angeles.
