Delia Veve

Chief of Curriculum Instruction

NYCPS

Delia Veve, a member of the first cohort at Teachers College Summer Principals Academy, was the principal of Urban Assembly Media High School (UAM) in Manhattan for fifteen years. She started her career as a New York City Teaching Fellow teaching English and Special Education in the Bronx. At UAM, she built a school-wide literacy program focused on developing students’ identity as readers, which grew into a partnership with the Literacy Collaborative. She believes in the importance of adult development in education and became a New Principal Support Coach to foster this. As the Chief of Curriculum and Instruction, she is dedicated to strengthening the instructional core and creating opportunities for collaboration across teams and divisions to support schools in a coherent and coordinated manner. Under Delia’s leadership NYCPS’s Digital Learning and Innovation Team is focused on creating access and awareness across NYCPS of available AI tools in order to create the conditions for educators to have the agency to think about how to use and create AI tools to accelerate deeper learning for all students. This work is aimed at creating deeper learning experiences so that all NYCPS students graduate on a pathway to a rewarding career, economic security, and prepared to be a positive force in their communities and the world.
