Learning Transformation Studios at ASU

Alan is Senior Advisor to ASU President Michael Crow, Executive Director of the ASU Learning Transformation Studios (LTS), and a Professor of Practice at the ASU College of Global Futures and Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Previously, he was the Founding Director of USC's Center EDGE, and the Katzman/Ernst Chair for Educational Entrepreneurship, Technology and Innovation at USC's Rossier School of Education -- an appointment with an interdisciplinary emphasis, leveraging the work at USC's Schools of Communications, Cinematic Arts, Medicine, Public Policy, and Business. He previously was the President of, CEO of the Teaching Channel, part of the founding team and EVP for 2U, and the founder and Chairman of Alan has guided some of the preeminent communications companies in the US, and as a political media consultant, helped produce the ads for over a dozen successful Mayoral, Gubernatorial, US Senate, and Presidential campaigns. In addition to serving on the Ca. State Board of Education, Alan was Chair of the Ca. Post-Secondary Education Commission, a US Secretary of Education appointee to the Congressional Web-Based Education Commission, President of the LA Commission for Children, Youth and Families, and Chair of the LA Information Technology Agency. A happily retired concert violinist and graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Alan resides in LA with his wife, their Labradoodle and (minus) their two college-going sons.
