Will US Students Recover from Pandemic Learning Loss?

Harvard University Center for Education Policy Research Faculty Director Tom Kane, Stanford Accelerator for Learning Professor of Education and Sociology Sean Reardon, and Reconstruction.US CEO/Co-Founder Kaya Henderson at the 2023 ASU+GSV Summit.

Without a successful recovery effort, student learning loss will be the longest lasting (and most inequitable) legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel will discuss the wide disparity in learning loss in different communities, and the latest research on the role played by school closures, poverty, parents’ ability to work from home and other factors. We will also describe current recovery efforts, federal relief funding and the urgent need for more aggressive action.
