Education as an Export: Why Breaking Down Borders is Important to the Evolution of Edtech

Lisa Rohrer (Emeritus), Matthew Small (Symplicity), Harish Poojary (Simplilearn Americas Inc), Mohammed Aldhalaan (Noon Academy), and Lucy Stonehill (BridgeU) explore Education as an Export: Why Breaking Down Borders is Important to the Evolution of Edtech at the 2021 ASU+GSV Summit. When someone thought of global education in the past, they usually pictured students traveling across the world to attend a higher education institution. EdTech has completely uprooted this paradigm. Today, students in the United States learn coding from world-class companies based in India and students in India use career software platforms developed by companies based in the US. Online education has broken down borders. Leveraging the decentralization of online learning, with laser-sharp focus upon the unique needs of this generation’s students, companies have cracked the code of how to educate students around the world.
