How do education leaders effectively transform a mountain of data, lofty state goals, and complex politics into policy that has a shot at serving kids? The panelists will share their about what gets in the way of doing this well - and what education advocates, partners, and leaders should know about how to do this well going forward. The panel will reference a new policy decision guide released by the George W. Bush Institute in addition to their own experience in the policy trenches. The panel will focus specifically on the promise and perils of data based decision making ‚- and how to operate effectively in very politically charged state and local contexts.
