Believing in Brilliance: The Brilliant Boys Book Club

The dynamic Truesdell Education Campus (District of Columbia Public Schools) team's vision is to empower all students, especially traditionally marginalized students, to fundamentally disrupt the institutions of systemic racism in their community, city, and country by believing in brilliance. Using evidenced based practices, unconditional love and overwhelming affirmation, the Truesdell EC team has moved away from a limiting deficit approach when speaking of our most marginalized population, Black boys, in public education. We will look at the affirming academic programming that proves what is possible when we seek to disrupt the long standing systemic framework used to inhibit the academic success of boys of color, with love and intentionality, and witness them thrive as high performing, thoughtful, academic scholars and voracious readers. The Brilliant Boys' Book Club disrupts the notion of what public schools are and what boys of color can become by believing in brilliance!
