GenAI-ERA (Generative AI for Education and Research in Africa)

I am Matthew Nyaaba, founder of GenAI-ERA (Generative AI for Education and Research in Africa), an initiative dedicated to enhancing AI literacy and its application in education across Africa. As a PhD candidate in Educational Theory and Practice, specializing in teacher and elementary education, my work focuses on integrating emerging technologies like Generative AI (GenAI) to support underrepresented communities and promote equity in education. I advocate for using GenAI to bridge the digital divide in basic education and teacher preparation while incorporating African indigenous knowledge into AI-driven learning systems. My mission is to use AI tools to strengthen STEM education in Africa, particularly in early education, and to create a sustainable framework for AI integration in the continent's education systems. With my global experiences, including my collaboration with the United States National Center on Generative AI at the University of Georgia, I am committed to leading educational transformation through AI in Africa.
