Visual Arts Educator

United Charter High School for the Humanities II

I am a native of Wilson, North Carolina where I began my career in visual arts education. I am a proud Double-Eagle Alumnus of North Carolina Central University. I am passionate about all things art, tech and education. Since 2015, I have served with pride as a visual arts educator in the South Bronx at Humanities II United Charter High School. It is my goal to daily contribute to the development of global change agents by generating engaging, rigorous, meaningful, student-centered instruction. I observe, listen, direct and promote discovery within the classroom. Skillful design as well as critical and creative thinking are a part of the culture of learning for students I serve. My philosophy of education creates connection, develops character and reinforces positive experiences to learn, create and inspire. I believe I am called to this work, to serve a community of learners and leaders who will continue to grow beyond the four walls to which our teaching and learning takes place. A quote I remind myself of often is by Charles Horton Cooley which says, "An artist cannot fail; it is a success to be one.”
