KK Byland is an accomplished human resources executive passionate about fostering people-first workplace cultures and driving strategic HR initiatives. As Chief Human Resources Officer at American College of Education (ACE), Byland has played a pivotal role in shaping organizational culture, leading the development and implementation of paid parental leave, tuition assistance, and remote work policies to support employee well-being and engagement. These efforts have led to ACE being a Top Workplace for four consecutive years.

With SPHR and SHRM-SCP certifications, Byland ensures HR strategies align with business objectives while maintaining compliance with employment legislation. Her leadership has been instrumental in refining processes that nurture employee engagement, growth, and organizational excellence.

A champion of social impact, Byland successfully led ACE through the B Corp certification process in 2016 and recertifications thereafter. She continues to drive ACE’s mission forward by leading service initiatives and nonprofit partnerships with organizations such as School Tools, Treasures 4 Teachers, A Gift for Teaching, and Teachers’ Treasures—helping to provide essential resources for students in need.

Beyond her corporate leadership, Byland is committed to community service, serving on the Board of Directors for Teachers’ Treasures, where she helps shape the organization’s strategic direction and financial planning.

Byland holds a Master’s in Human Resources Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Ball State University. She also participated in Harvard Graduate School of Education’s 2017 Women in Education Leadership program, a prestigious initiative designed to equip leaders with strategies to navigate complex challenges in education and business.
