K 12 StarTrek Closing the Gap Between Research and Practice

A New Wave of Disruption: Innovations Expanding Learners' Social Capital

Moderator:  Stephen Cockrell - CEO, The 74

Bror Saxberg - Vice President of Learning Science, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and Brooke Stafford-Brizard - Director of Whole Child Development, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative

Over the past several decades, researchers have learned a great deal about human learning and development. As a result, we now know more than ever about what it takes to help children grow up healthy, excel in school, and reach adulthood ready to meet their full potential, as well as how to support teachers to help get them there. But a challenge remains:  how to build collaborations among educators, developers and researchers to help translate this science into classroom use. Join Bror and Brooke as they discuss how to close the gap and apply the science of learning and development to education.
