
Sven Schütt has been the CEO of IU Group since 2010, one of the world’s leading providers of personalized education, which includes IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU) as well as universities in the UK (Walbrook Institute of London) and Canada (University of Fredericton). Under Schütt’s leadership, IU – originally a small campus-based university in Bad Honnef – has grown into Germany’s largest university and one of Europe’s leading EdTech companies. As a pioneer in the use of AI in education, Sven Schütt is committed to ensuring that everyone has access to education, enabling people to be well prepared for the changing job market and to grow personally. With IU, he created the largest personalized digital learning platform in higher education, realizing the vision of democratizing education. Before joining IU, Sven Schütt served as Managing Director of the Hertie School of Governance, a private university based in Berlin. From 2005 to 2008, in his role as Managing Director at the Federal Employment Agency, he developed and implemented the Hartz reforms — one of the largest public sector reforms in Europe. Prior to that, he worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, focusing on projects in the services sector. Schütt studied physics and philosophy and earned his PhD in 2001 at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology, specializing in learning, development, and data science.
