Ruth Okediji is the Jeremiah Smith, Jr., Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, Co-Director of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society, Faculty Director of the Harvard Program on Biblical Law and Christian Legal Studies, and Faculty Co-Director of the Christianity & The Common Good Initiative at Harvard University. Professor Okediji teaches Contracts, Copyright, Intellectual Property (IP) and courses on Artificial Intelligence. Her research and scholarship examine innovation policy, the digital economy, and global knowledge governance for human development. She has authored an extensive array of publications on the relationship between innovation policy, access to education, and human flourishing and she has served as a policy advisor to inter-governmental organizations and national governments on these issues. She is the recipient of numerous leadership, research, and teaching awards, including the 2023 Barry Prize for Distinguished Intellectual Achievement by the American Academy of Sciences and Letters, the Shatter the Ceiling Award (twice) by the Harvard Women’s Law Association, and the IP3 Award by Public Knowledge for significant contributions to the IP field. Among her numerous recognitions for teaching excellence, she has been voted Professor Most Likely to Go Beyond the Call of Duty. Professor Okediji is currently an appointed member of the American Bar Association Committee on Law and Artificial Intelligence and sits on the Board of the International Justice Mission.
