Michelle Smith

Superintendent

Lytle ISD

Over the past three decades, I've dedicated my career to education, starting as a teacher at Southwest ISD in 1986, then moving back to my alma mater, Lytle ISD in 1987 where I've grown from a teacher to Superintendent since 2001. My journey through the ranks—from teaching in the late '80s, serving as Assistant Principal, to overseeing operations as Assistant Superintendent—has been driven by a passion for educational excellence and community impact. Holding a BA from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master's in Science from Texas A&M, Kingsville, alongside multiple Texas Educator Certifications, my academic and professional credentials reflect a deep commitment to leadership in education. As Superintendent of Lytle ISD for 22 years, I've focused on fostering a supportive and innovative learning environment, enhancing academic standards, and nurturing a culture where educators and students thrive. My approach blends strategic leadership with a heart for the community, ensuring Lytle ISD remains a beacon of learning and growth. It's been a journey of meaningful challenges and rewarding achievements, all centered on empowering our next generation.
