Dr. Marvin Lynn, Dean & Professor in the School of Education & Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver, has enjoyed a robust career as an elementary teacher, university professor, scholar, public university administrator, and artist. His research focuses on race, education, the work and lives of Black male educators, and best practices for advancing teacher diversity in the United States. The Second Edition of the Handbook of Critical Race Theory in Education, where he served as lead editor, was published on Routledge Press in 2021. Dr. Lynn is quoted regularly in local, national, and international news outlets including The New York Times, the BBC, The Christian Science Monitor, Fox News and more. His research has been recognized by the American Educational Research Association, the Critical Race Studies in Education Association, and the University of the Free State in South Africa. Dean Lynn has served on a number of national and state level boards and councils that oversee important aspects of education. In his spare time, he performs as a vocalist with a number of professional and civic organizations including The Oregon Symphony, the Colorado Symphony, and others. He enjoys hiking and spending time with his wife and three sons.
