Sir Malcolm Grant is a distinguished leader in higher education and healthcare. A trained lawyer and academic, he spent much of his career at the University of Cambridge before serving as President and Provost of University College London (UCL) from 2003 to 2013, where he advanced UCL’s global reputation for research and innovation. Appointed by Prime Minister David Cameron, he chaired NHS England from 2011 to 2018, overseeing major reforms to improve patient outcomes and system efficiency. He has also led key government commissions on English local government reform and genetically modified crops and served as Chair of the Russell Group, representing the UK’s leading research universities. He has advised governments in the United Kingdom, Russia and France on higher education strategy. Building on his commitment to transformative education, Sir Malcolm helped shape TEDI-London, an innovative, degree-awarding engineering institute co-founded by Arizona State University (ASU), King’s College London, and UNSW Sydney. His current work with ASU focuses on the ambitious new ASU Health Agenda and on the success of TEDI-London.
