Dr. M. Ann Levett joined AASA, the School Superintendents Association, in July 2023 as Assistant Executive Director of its Learning Network after retiring as Superintendent of Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) in Savannah, Georgia. During her six years of leadership as Superintendent, the district demonstrated great gains in cohort graduation rates, early childhood programming, community and business partner engagement, technology innovation, and career-technical education. Previously, Dr. Levett served as acting superintendent in Dayton, Ohio, and in leadership positions at Middle Georgia State University, Antioch University, and Yale University School of Medicine Child Study Center. She also served as a school board member for New Haven Public Schools (CT). Dr. Levett is a published author, nationally known speaker, and consultant on international educational projects. In March 2024, she published Using Culturally Responsive Books in Your Classroom. Dr. Levett curated and served as a mentor for Scholastic’s Rising Voices: Celebrating Girls of Color, which launched in 2022. Throughout her career, Dr. Levett has received numerous accolades, including recognition for her accomplishments in Education by the Georgia Senate in 2015, a Georgia Woman of Achievement by the Georgia Assembly in 2019, Georgia's STEM/STEAM Advocate of the Year in 2019, a National Superintendent to Watch in 2021, and a National Carl D. Perkins Service Award Regional winner in 2022.
