Helen Thomas began her EdTech career at LeapFrog after earning her MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. She played a pivotal role during the company's post-IPO growth, leading its expansion into the Asia-Pacific region and eventually becoming the founding CEO of LeapFrog China. As SVP Worldwide Sales for Livescribe, Inc., Helen was part of the senior team that launched the world’s first smartpen across college campuses, secured major retail partnerships, including Apple and BestBuy, and achieved full distribution worldwide. In 2014, Helen co-founded Touchjet, introducing a groundbreaking computer-vision touchscreen technology that transformed ordinary TVs into interactive giant tablets, earning accolades from TechCrunch and the Edison Awards. As CEO of Dark Matter Artificial Intelligence (DMAI), she launched an AI tutor for toddlers nationwide, which became a top-selling preschool learning system with national distribution and thousands of 5-star reviews from parents and grandparents. Helen’s innovative leadership has been recognized with multiple awards, including the prestigious Cannes Neurons Awards in the Creative AI category at the World AI Cannes Festival. In 2022, Technology Innovators named Helen a Top 20 EdTech CEO. In 2024, Enterprise Review included her as one of the AI Pioneers shaping America’s future. She has been regularly invited to speak at industry conferences and join panel discussions on AI-related topics.
