As Chief Big Thought Institute Officer, Greg MacPherson oversees a talented team focused on building organizational and community capacity through a suite of services that include professional learning, program and curriculum design, data and impact, policy and advocacy, and consulting. Greg joined Big Thought in 2010 and has helped lead the organization’s participation in both the National Summer Learning Initiative and the Partnerships for Social and Emotional Learning Initiative in conjunction with The Wallace Foundation. Over the past three years, he has guided the organization’s collaboration with Education Reimagined as a member of both the Ecosystems Exploration Lab and the current Learner-Centered Ecosystem Lab. Released in 2024, he co-authored the chapter “Creating Creators: How an Out-of-School Time Ecosystem is Redefining Creativity and Building Learning Pathways to Future Success” in Built For More: The Role of Out-of-School Time in Preparing Youth for the Future of Work, a volume in the Current Issues in Out-Of-School Time series. With a background in the performing arts and non-profit management, Greg previously worked with the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture, The Classics Theater & Art for Children, and Theatre Three. Greg is an alumnus of Leadership Dallas, the National Guild for Community Arts Education Leadership Institute, and is a graduate of Baylor University.
