Dorothy Carlson

Dorothy has been an educator for over 20 years, first as a high school English teacher and currently as a Technology and Innovation coach in the Poway Unified School District. In addition to being a classroom teacher, she also served as department lead and AVID coordinator. Dorothy leads several district professional growth initiatives and has presented at the ASU+GSV AI Show, SDCOE CUE, AI4K12 Deeper Learning Summit, and was accepted as a 2024 and 2025 ASU+GSV AI Innovator. She is passionate about leveraging AI ethically and responsibly to help students and educators be creators instead of consumers. She is leading a district-wide Digital Citizenship Initiative with safe, creative, and innovative AI use in education as an important component.
