Amir Nathoo is the co-founder and CEO of Outschool, an online learning platform that empowers kids ages 3–18 to learn on their own terms. Under Amir's leadership, Outschool has transformed the education sector by offering a marketplace-based approach to learning, beginning with seed funding from Y Combinator and other investors shortly after its launch. Designed as an "Airbnb for kids' classes, " the platform connects independent teachers with learners in a collaborative, live video chat setting, allowing for a customizable and social learning experience. Widely celebrated as an ed-tech unicorn, Outschool is valued at $3billion, most recently raising a $110million Series D in 2021. Amir is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and proudly sits on several boards, including Scribd, an online library that connects storytellers to their audience. He advises young entrepreneurs to start early, keep expenses low, and surround themselves with the right network, in order to turn audacious ideas into reality. An alumnus of St. John’s College, Cambridge, Amir earned a MEng in Electrical and Information Sciences. He started his career in software development at IBM, later transitioning into consultancy. With an entrepreneurial itch, he co-founded Trigger.io, a mobile development platform, which was later acquired by Square, a leading financial services company. At Square, Amir played a pivotal role in launching Square Payroll, a new product line for the company, before founding Outschool in 2015. Amir lives in San Francisco with his wife Kirsty and their two children.
