
Jomysha Delgado Stephen is the Executive Vice President, Special Counsel to the President, and Secretary to the Board at Dartmouth. As the President's principal advisor, she shapes long-term institutional direction while ensuring mission alignment, operational excellence, governance and compliance across a complex Research-1 university.Since joining Dartmouth, Stephen has served as a chief architect of organizational strategy, advancing major institutional priorities while designing and reshaping core administrative and student-facing functions. Her leadership has strengthened enterprise approaches to health and wellness, community engagement, and student success, and she continues to guide organizational evolution through periods of transition to ensure continuity and impact.Stephen convenes Dartmouth's Senior Leadership Team, driving the development and execution of university-wide priorities across academic and administrative functions. She played a lead role in structuring Dartmouth's groundbreaking partnership with Anthropic and Amazon Web Services, making Dartmouth the first Ivy League to launch AI at scale through a secure, academic-focused, and principled model for teaching, research, career design, and operations.Stephen leads Dartmouth’s institutional crisis response, coordinating across communications, legal, and operational teams to manage emerging threats and protect the institution's mission and community. Known for anticipating emerging issues and translating strategy into execution, she builds durable alignment among diverse stakeholders. In addition, she leads a broad portfolio spanning institutional operations, governance, compliance, equity, labor relations, and executive projects and partnerships, working closely with the Office of the General Counsel to assess risk and reinforce institutional integrity.Deeply committed to mission-driven organizations, Stephen previously served Barnard College for more than two decades in senior roles, including Executive Vice President, Chief of Staff to the President, and General Counsel, advising three presidents. She earned her BA from Barnard (magna cum laude) and her JD from Columbia Law School, and serves on the board of the Fund for the City of New York.
