Inspiring Equity: A “Spoken Word” Model to Address Learning Loss with Darryl McDaniels on Stage X

Join hip-hop icon and author Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, the legendary founder of the group RUN DMC. He will be discussing his new best-selling children’s book entitled Darryl’s Dream (Random House) and his new hit series What’s the Word? at Noggin – Nick Jr.’s learning platform developed by education experts for little kids, with games, videos, and books starring their favorite characters. Darryl’s work on inspiring kids to do well in school and to master early literacy skills will be presented through his own freestyle rap and a conversation with Alejandro Gibes de Gac. Alejandro is an early literacy champion and the founder of Springboard Collaborative, a nonprofit organization that focuses on closing the literacy gap by closing the gap between home and school. Anya Kamenetz, author and NPR education correspondent, will be moderating their conversation.
