Sara Hebel

Sara Hebel is the co-founder and executive editor of Open Campus, a nonprofit newsroom focused on higher education. She manages foundation relationships and newsroom partnerships and provides coaching and editing for reporters in our seven partner newsrooms. A former assistant managing editor at The Chronicle of Higher Education, Sara has more than two decades of experience as a newsroom leader and higher-education journalist. She’s steered award-winning enterprise journalism, set newsroom coverage agendas, and created national reporting workshops for college journalists.
