Robert Lee is the Dean of the Sanford College of Education at National University. He is a nationally recognized expert in community-situated teaching and learning with a wide-ranging list of accomplishments as an educator community advocate and leader. The collective impact of his work has improved school progress by developing socially-just educators who help transform public schools and spaces into community-driven learning centers. His vision to create an immersive model for culturally responsive urban teacher recruitment preparation and induction was realized while spearheading the Chicago Teacher Education Pipeline at Illinois State University. He later founded the National Center for Urban Education created to develop cross-institutional partnerships between universities school districts and community-based organizations working together to promote innovative and transformative solutions to systemic challenges in urban communities. Dr. Lee has been recognized for his work by The Leadership Academy of the Association of Teacher Educators Council of Past Presidents. He also received numerous awards including: the Best Practice Award in Support of Global Diversity & Inclusion from the America Association of Colleges for Teacher Education; the Nicholas Michelli Award for Promoting Social Justice from the National Network for Educational Renewal; and the Public Media Awards through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for Excellence in Innovation in Education.
