Nate McClennen supports strategic thinking around emerging school networks, codifying learning models and scaling thought leadership and implementation of place-based learning as Vice President of Strategy and Innovation at Getting Smart. He previously served as Head of Innovation at the Teton Science Schools, a nationally-renowned leader in place-based education, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Rural Schools Collaborative. Nate helped to found and lead an innovative PK-12 school; taught math, science, and robotics at the K-12 level; and consulted with schools and organizations nationally and internationally. Through his work at Teton Science Schools, Nate created the Place Network, a group of rural public schools sharing a next-generation learning model. Nate also launched a teacher observation technology platform as well as a competency-based platform built off of Canvas LMS. Nate lives in Wyoming with his family and spends his free time coaching soccer and exploring the outdoors. Nate is also the co-author of the book The Power of Place.
