SLAM Foundation

Millie Sanchez is the Chief Administrative Officer for the SLAM Foundation, a non-profit educational organization supporting K-12 public charter schools nationwide.  Sports Leadership Arts and Management (SLAM) schools prepare students for post-secondary careers through academies in Sports Medicine, Broadcasting, Marketing, Entertainment Arts and Management.   As co-founder, Millie has been instrumental in the successful creation and expansion of the SLAM network from one school in 2012 to over 12 charter schools and growing across underserved communities in Florida, Nevada and Georgia. A new SLAM school is slated to open in Mesa, Arizona in 2022.

Prior to joining SLAM, Millie worked with numerous charter school organizations
assisting in the inception of over 68 new schools in Florida and across the nation.  As a strong believer in the need for choice in education, Millie founded the ACE Foundation in 2007. This non-profit organization provides financial and community-based support for charter school students and families.  From 2007 through 2015, she served as the foundation’s executive director, creating countless initiatives to increase awareness of educational choice programs throughout the South Florida community.

Millie began her professional career in education in 1997 as an English teacher in one Miami’s inner-city high schools.  A decade later, she expanded her reach in serving at-risk students as principal of an inner-city charter school in Los Angeles, CA.  Her experiences in both traditional and choice educational programs have laid the foundation for over 24 years of work in advocating for equal access to quality education for all children.
