Heriot is a professor of law at the University of San Diego and a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. She has written extensively on civil rights issues in law reviews as well as newspapers and magazines and is the co-editor (along with Maimon Schwarzschild) of an anthology entitled “A Dubious Expediency: How Race Preferences Damage Higher Education.” She is the chairman of the board of the American Civil Rights Project, and is a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Scholars and of the Californians for Equal Rights Foundation.
