Ed Wells serves as EVP and Head of Global Media and Education for Sesame Workshop where he is responsible for developing the organization’s long-term global strategic vision maximizing audience engagement and growing the Workshop’s commercial and educational endeavors.Previously as SVP and Head of International Media and Education Wells broadened the organization’s international reach through innovative partnerships across consumer products content production and distribution formal education and themed entertainment. He also oversaw regional expansion opening offices in Europe Japan China and Latin America and worked to identify early childhood issues regionally and develop community outreach programs featuring Sesame’s educational assets and whole-child approach to learning.Prior to joining Sesame in 2017 Wells was EVP and Head of International for WWE Inc. where he was responsible for the global development of WWE’s brand and businesses including the launch of their DTC subscription network. Prior to that he worked across the Viacom Media Networks brands based in New York Singapore and Japan where he served as VP and GM of Nickelodeon. Wells is actively involved in philanthropic institutions serving as Strategic Advisor for Ali Forney Center an organization supporting homeless LGBTQ youth. He received his BA from the University of Michigan and Master of Arts degrees in International Studies from both American University and Ritsumeikan.
