Bart leads a sector-wide effort to dramatically improve the impact of more than $13.2 billion in annual edtech spending. As the CEO of the nonprofit EdTech Evidence Exchange, and research associate professor at the University of Virginia Curry School of Education, Bart leads the Edtech Genome Project, which is working to discover and quantify which “edtech implementation variables” matter most to student achievement. Over the previous twenty five years Bart has been an educator, entrepreneur, operator, and investor, as well as a corporate M&A attorney. He spent a decade helping to build and sell the world’s largest online tutoring company. He founded and ran an edtech accelerator and venture fund. He currently serves on the board of ASCD where he chaired the CEO search committee and chairs the finance committee. In his free time Bart is an instrument-rated commercial pilot who serves as a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight and as a civilian test pilot for NASA human factors research.
