Protecting Social Equity from the Impact of Automation with a Responsible People Strategy

The world of work is changing faster than the workforce, with technological developments and automation disrupting how and where we work. Add in the turmoil of Covid-19 and revived discussions on race, gender, and belonging, companies are also emerging from the pandemic with increased resolution on how to fortify themselves and their employees for the future. Rather than allowing developments, like the increased use of technology, potentially leading to thousands of capable individuals falling out of the workforce and concerns about DEI, this session will look at how employers can work to create sustainable jobs for a diverse workforce and how, now more than ever, having accurate data to help drive these discussions is a critical component in decision-making. Dr. Starks joined Pearson in January 2021, to lead a new cross-functional, company wide effort to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at Pearson. In this session she will discuss the work undertaken so far serving as an advocate for these issues within the education and learning community and both speakers will discuss how internal recruitment, talent mobility and DEI are the keys to building a resilient, future-proof workforce.
