Obum is a leader in educational innovation with over 20 years of experience. In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen awarded him an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) for his work in Computing & AI education and his efforts to champion diversity in tech. Obum currently leads education efforts at Google DeepMind, where he focuses on making AI knowledge more accessible, diversifying the AI workforce, and creating impactful learning experiences for everyone. His educational programs have helped millions of students worldwide develop the essential skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Previously, he co-founded Google's Educator Groups, now active in over 60 countries. In 2019, the Financial Times recognized him as one of the UK's top 10 most influential ethnic minority leaders in tech. Obum also serves on the Governing Council of the University of Essex and is a Trustee of UK Youth.
